Food in the curriculum
Food in the curriculum is receiving increasing emphasis, as it is required to be delivered with practical components in both Technology and Health and Physical Education. Because of this it is important to differentiate between these two approaches of food.

awareness of nutritional needs and how healthy individuals make sound food
choices is increased. They are taught to think critically about what and why they
are eating and are given opportunities to practice making food related decisions
from the food selection through preparation, cooking, shopping, to the eating of
food.
Safe and hygienic food handling is important for the health and wellbeing of the individual and community; hence the year generally begins with a 3/4 week food hygiene topic.

Additional Information
An ingredient list and letter will be given to each student at the beginning of their Food Technology course. This will help parents/caregivers to plan their shopping.
